A publication about girls escaping natural disasters and violent conflict in Eastern Africa
Children are on the move. In East Africa region, it is estimated that over 5 million children have migrated across borders or been forcibly displaced in their own country.
Forcable displacement is p...ushing more and more children out of their homes and communities, escaping the violence of war and conflict, only to fall vulnerable to other forms of violence. Girls are particularly vulnerable and need extra protection.
Every day, girls on the move in East Africa face a variety of rights violations, including:
• Exploitation and violence
• Being separated from their families
• Deprivation of essential services
• Use and recruitment by armed groups
• Sexual abuse
• Child marriage
This report highlights concerns that girls in eastern Africa face and calls on international and national decision makers to prevent and end violence that children face when they are forced to flee their homes.

We systematically reviewed Medline as well as the references of published review articles for relevant studies of adherence to multidrug treatment of both drug-susceptible and drug-resistant TB through February 3, 2018. We included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) as well as prospective and retro...spective cohort studies (CSs) with an internal or external control group that evaluated any adherence intervention and conducted a meta-analysis of their impact on TB treatment outcomes. Our search identified 7,729 articles, of which 129 met the inclusion criteria for quantitative analysis. Seven adherence categories were identified, including DOT offered by different providers and at various locations, reminders and tracers, incentives and enablers, patient education, digital technologies (short message services [SMSs] via mobile phones and video-observed therapy [VOT]), staff education, and combinations of these interventions.

Enthalten sind auch die im Projekt „Qualität ist kein Zufall – Neue Standards in der Flüchtlingsarbeit“ entwickelten Checklisten un...d Erhebungsbögen mit entsprechender Kurzbeschreibung.
Das Buch ist auch für Ehrenamtliche hilfreich.
Vor allem für Personen, die neu in diesem Arbeitsfeld sind, ist das Buch als Übersicht hilfreich. Hervorzuheben ist, dass durchgehend auf die zugrundeliegenden Paragraphen verwiesen wird.

Der therapeutische Kontakt findet im schriftlichen Austausch über ein programme...igenes, datengeschütztes Webportal statt. Auf diese Weise können auch Menschen in Kriegs- und Krisengebieten Kontakt aufnehmen und eine erste psychologische Unterstützung in Anspruch nehmen.

This report found that fewer than 15 percent of more than 3,000 school-age asylum-seeking children on the islands were enrolled in public school at the end of the 2017-2018 school year, and that in government-run camps on the islands, only about 100 children, all preschoolers, had access to formal e...ducation. The asylum-seeking children on the islands are denied the educational opportunities they would have on the mainland. Most of those who were able to go to school had been allowed to leave the government-run camps for housing run by local authorities and volunteers

Der Kurs eignet sic...h vor allem für neunte Klassen und ist für eine Bearbeitungszeit von ca. 110 Minuten konzipiert. Die Module können (auch nur teilweise) in mehreren Schulstunden oder an einem Projekttag bearbeitet werden. Die Aufgabenstellungen und ein Lösungsblatt zur Nachbesprechung sind im Kursraum zur Verfügung gestellt und können von der Lehrperson heruntergeladen werden.

The UCL–Lancet Commission on Migration and Health steps into this political debate to provide evidence for cooperation and action on what is one of the most pressing issues of the 21st century. The Commission’s foundation is that migration and health are inextricably linked—and key to sustaina...ble development. It provides a framework of migration as a dynamic process, providing evidence of the multiple factors that could be beneficial or detrimental to individuals and systems along the migration journey—at origin, transit, destination, and return. It documents the devastating impacts of forced migration, especially on girls and women, but also the overall benefits to the health of individuals and populations that migration generates. It lays out a research agenda to better ensure the health of migrants. Using the lens of health the Commission shows that migration policies can be both ethical and feasible—calling for governments, international agencies, and professionals to promote health in global mobility.

Rund drei Viertel der in Deutschland lebenden Flüchtlinge aus Syrien, dem Irak und Afghanistan sind nach Gewalterlebnissen traumatisiert.

Das Ambulatorium für Folter- und Kriegsopfer SRK hat in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Bayerischen Roten Kreuz eine Informationsbroschüre für hauptamtliche oder freiwillige Personen erstel...lt, die mit traumatisierten Geflüchteten zusammentreffen. Der Informationsbedarf zu Trauma und Traumafolgestörungen hat in den letzten Jahren stark zugenommen. Die neue Broschüre beschreibt in einer verständlichen Sprache die Entstehung von Traumafolgestörungen und gibt Tipps und Hinweise zum Umgang mit traumatisierten Geflüchteten. Sie soll helfen, für die Hintergründe von Traumata und für uns allenfalls unübliche Verhaltensweisen traumatisierter Personen zu verstehen und einzuordnen und unser eigenes Verhalten entsprechend anzupassen.
Die Broschüre ist eine Ergänzung zur 2012 erstmals aufgelegten Broschüre „Wenn das Vergessen nicht gelingt“. Diese richtet sich an Betroffene mit posttraumatischer Belastungsstörung (PTBS oder PTSD) und deren Angehörige.
