Demographic and Health Survey (RDHS) was designed to provide data for monitoring the population and health situation in Rwanda. The 2010 RDHS is the fifth Demographic and Health Survey to be conducted in Rwanda (DHS in 1992, 2000, and 2005 and Interim DHS in 2007-08). The objective of the survey was to provide up-to-date information on fertility, family planning, childhood mortality, nutrition including anemia testing, maternal and child health, domestic violence, malaria including malaria testing, maternal mortality, awareness and behavior regarding HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections, and HIV prevalence. more

The main objective of the 2014-15 RDHS was to obtain current information on demographic and health indicators, including family planning; maternal mortality; infant ... child mortality; nutrition status of mothers and children; prenatal care, delivery, and postnatal care; childhood diseases; and pediatric immunization. In addition, the survey was designed to measure indicators such as domestic violence, the prevalence of anemia and malaria among women and children, and the prevalence of HIV infection in Rwanda. It generated relevant policy and programme information to guide a well-informed polciy required to propel Rwanda towards achieving its aspirations of being high middle income country by 2035 and high income country by 2050. The primary objectives of this study were to assess Rwanda’s prospects for harnessing the demographic dividend and demonstrate priority policy and programme options that the country should adopt in order to optimise its chances of earning a maximum demographic dividend in the context of its youthful population and medium, long-term socio-economic development aspirations. more

One of the main objectives of such interventions is to improve the general level of knowledge of HIV, with the hypothesis that increasing HIV knowledge will reduce risky sexual behavior. However, there has been a concern that HIV knowledge may not necessarily reduce risky sexual behavior. Only a limited number of population-based studies describe the results of these interventions in terms of how HIV knowledge affects risky sexual behavior. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to fill in this gap, by exploring HIV knowledge and its effect on risky sexual behavior among men in Rwanda. more
