This document presents the findings of the National Census of Persons with ...e-to-highlight medbox">Disabilities in Rwanda. The preliminary result of this census has been used to produce a summary analysis of tables and figures. It shall be possible to derive basic socio-demographic indicators as well as to obtain the estimate of persons with disability in Rwanda, all of which shall serve as a reference to the categorization activity planned to be done in the near future by a medical committee from the Ministry of Health. The data of this report relate to (1) Persons with disability size for various administrative units (Districts and Provinces), (2) Distribution of Persons with disabilities by sex, age, marital status and type of disabilities.

The study analyses the current situation of children with disabilities in relation to realizing their rights and accessing basic services, as well ...as their life experiences in their communities. It also focuses on identifying the barriers created by society that prevent children with disabilities from enjoying their human rights. This includes identifying negative attitudes; environmental and communication barriers; gaps in policies or their effective implementation.
The report reveals that children with disabilities in Myanmar are less likely to access services in health or education; rarely have their voices heard in society; and face daily discrimination as objects of pity. It also highlights how inadequate policies and legislation contribute to the challenges these children face.
The information available in this publication should be useful for policy makers, development partners and Disabled Persons Organisations to promote the realization of the rights of all children with disabilities.

disabilities (PWD) through the construction of accessible water points and latrines. To date, about ten wheelchair accessible standpipes have been constructed in places such as the town of Tenkodogo, the subject of this study.

This article describes experiences in implementing a community mental health and development project in a rural district in southern India, including the position of persons ...o-highlight medbox">with mental illness when the project was initiated, the challenges faced and the strategies that were developed to overcome these challenges. The authors conclude that when services are locally available, persons with mental illness can be treated and rehabilitated within their own community. They can live with dignity and their rights are respected. There is a great need for inclusion of persons with mental illness in the existing developmental activities and in disabled persons’ organisations.
