An estimated 59 000 people die from rabies each year. That’s one person every nine minutes of every day, 40% of whom are children living in Asia and Africa. As dog bites cause almost all human cases, we can prevent rabies deaths by increasing awareness, vaccinating dogs to prevent the disease at i...ts source and administering life-saving treatment after people have been bitten. We have the vaccines, medicines, tools and technologies to prevent people from dying from dog-mediated rabies. For a relatively low cost it is possible to break the disease cycle and save lives

The aim of the Annual Inspection Report is to present findings of public sector health establishments inspected by the OHSC to monitor compliance with the National Core Standards (NCS) during the 2016/2017 financial year in South Africa.
The NCS define fundamentals for quality of care based on six ...dimensions of quality: Acceptability,Safety, Reliability, Equity, Accessibility, and Efficiency.
The NCS structured assessment tools were used to collect data during inspections across the seven domains namely: Patient Rights; Patient Safety, Clinical Governance and Clinical Care; Clinical Support Services; Public Health; Leadership and Governance; Operational Management and Facilities and Infrastructure. A total of 851 routine inspections were conducted with 201 of these facilities re-inspected. Inspection data was captured on District Health Information System (DHIS) data entry forms and exported for analysis to Statistical Analysis Software (SAS) version 9.4.

Les familles et les enfants les plus chanceux ont pu se réfugier chez des parents ou des amis dans des zones plus calmes de la région. Cependant, la plupart ont été déplacés à l’intérieur du pays, contraints de vivre à ciel ouvert au milieu d’une vaste et impitoyable savane formée d’arbres et d’arbustes, sans aucun accès à des soins de santé, à de la nourriture et à de l’eau salubre, et sans la moindre allumette pour faire du feu ni la moindre moustiquaire pour se protéger de la malaria.

La surveillance basée sur les événements est définie comme la collecte, le suivi, l'évaluation et l'interprétation organisés d'informations ponctuelles non structurées concernant des événements ou des risques de santé, qui peuvent représenter un risque aigu pour la santé. Les composant...es de surveillance axées sur les indicateurs et sur les événements servent à la fonction d'alerte précoce et de réponse du système de surveillance de la santé publique. Le cadre de la surveillance axée sur les événements offre des conseils aux praticiens de la santé publique qui cherchent à mettre en œuvre une surveillance axée sur les événements à chaque niveau administratif de leur pays.
