La protection des enfants et des établissements d’enseignement s’avère particulièrement importante. Il est nécessaire de prendre des précautions pour éviter la propagation éventuelle de la COVID-19 en milieu scolaire. Cependant, il faut également veiller à ne pas stigmatiser les élève...s et le personnel susceptibles d’avoir été exposés au virus. N’oublions pas que la maladie à coronavirus n’opère aucune distinction fondée sur la nationalité, l’ethnie, le handicap, l’âge ou le genre. Les établissements scolaires doivent rester accueillants, respectueux, inclusifs et solidaires envers tous. Les mesures adoptées par les écoles peuvent prévenir l’introduction et la propagation de la COVID-19 par les élèves et le personnel qui auraient été exposés au virus tout en réduisant au minimum les perturbations et en évitant la stigmatisation des personnes concernées.

Le COVID-19 est un nouveau coronavirus, proche de celui du Syndrome Respiratoire Aigu Sévère (SRAS) qui avait été à l’origine d’une épidémie meurtrière en 2003. L’infection par ce nouveau coronavirus se manifeste le plus souvent par une fièvre et des signes respiratoires pouvant se co...mpliquer par un syndrome de détresse respiratoire aiguë. C'est un organisme indépendant qui veille au respect des droits de l'homme dans la lutte contre le racisme, la discrimination (fondée sur la "race", l'origine ethnique ou nationale, la ...couleur, la nationalité, la religion, la langue, l'orientation sexuelle et l'identité de genre), la xénophobie, l'antisémitisme et l'intolérance. Les membres de la Commission sont indépendants et impartiaux. Ils sont nommés sur la base de leur autorité morale et de leur expertise reconnue en matière de racisme, de xénophobie, d'antisémitisme et d'intolérance. Dans le cadre de son mandat statutaire, l'ECRI produit des rapports nationaux pour chaque pays qui analysent la situation en matière de racisme et d'intolérance dans chaque Etat membre du Conseil de l'Europe et font des propositions pour résoudre les problèmes identifiés.
