surveillance via PV training and mentoring of local PV stakeholders and healthcare providers (HCPs) at their own healthcare
facilities (HCFs).
Methods An 18-month PV training and mentoring programme was implemented in collaboration with national stakeholders,
and in partnership with the Ministry of Health, GSK and PATH. Two-day training was provided to Expanded Programme on
Immunisation coordinators, identified as responsible for AE reporting, and four National Regulatory Authority representa-
tives. Abridged PV training and mentoring were provided regularly to HCPs. Support was given in upgrading the national
PV system. Key performance indicators included the number of AEs reported, transmission of AE forms, completeness of
reports, serious AEs reported and timeliness of recording into VigiFlow.
Results In 18 months, 443 HCPs at 61 HCFs were trained. The number of reported AEs increased from 22 (January 2000 to
October 2016) to 228 (November 2016 to May 2018), enabling Malawi to become a member of the World Health Organization
Programme for International Drug Monitoring. Most (98%) AE report forms contained mandatory information on reporter,
event, patient and product, but under 1% were transmitted to the national PV office within 48 h.
Conclusion Regular PV training and mentoring of HCPs were effective in enhancing passive safety surveillance in Malawi,
but the transmission of reports to the national PV centre requires further improvement.

Children are also disproportionately affected by pollution, not only in terms of death rates, but also in terms of cognitive and physical development. This report illustrates that environmental causes also have an impact on whether children are pushed to work and on the kind of work they engage in, the conditions of work, exposure to dangerous toxicants and the risk of exploitation. However, the report raises more questions than it answers as it is one of the first reports addressing the question, how environmental degradation and climate change affect the vulnerability of children towards exploitation.

réunis en décembre 2015 dans le cadre du Forum national sur les objectifs du Millénaire pour le
développement (OMD) et l’internalisation des ODD ont évalué conjointement, et en toute
responsabilité, le niveau d’atteinte des OMD relatifs à la santé. Ils ont aussi internalisé les objectifs de
développement durable en se donnant pour mission d’accélérer la progression du Bénin vers la
couverture sanitaire universelle. La Stratégie de Coopération de l’OMS avec le Bénin, qui a tenu
compte des recommandations de cet important forum national, a retenu quatre priorités stratégiques,
ainsi que des domaines d’action et autres approches stratégiques qui guideront l’action de l’OMS au
Bénin.

2 à 1992.Avec la pénurie de la main-d’œuvre et la libéralisation de l’éducation,le Sénégal fait face depuis une quinzaine d’années à l’ouverture effrénée d’écoles privées dont la majorité dispose d’un agrément du ministère de la Santé.Le diplôme requis à l’entrée dans ces institutions de formation est le baccalauréat de l’enseignement général (13 ans de scolarité).La durée des études est de trois années sanctionnées par un diplôme d’État d’infirmier délivré par le ministère de la Santé et de la Prévention médicale,pour les diplômés des secteurs public et privé. - En deuxième lieu,il y a la formation continue spécialisée,dans les huit filières suivantes:enseignement et administration,anesthésie et réanimation,kinésithérapie,biologie,imagerie médicale,odontologie,ophtalmologie et néphrologie.Elle est offerte sur une période de deux ans,par l’École nationale de développement sanitaire et social (ENDSS).Le profil de sortie permet aux soignants d’exercer leur profession spécialisée avec le diplôme de technicien supérieur de santé.
