conflict, climate change, and the COVID-19 pandemic had already left millions exposed to food price shocks and vulnerable to further crises. Now the conflict in Ukraine—with its knock-on effects on global supplies of and prices for food, fertilizer, and fuel—is turning a crisis into a catastrophe.
But the speed and severity of the global food crisis reflects the fact that millions of people were already living on the precarious edge of hunger—a legacy of past failures to build more just, sustainable, and resilient food systems. This year’s report therefore focuses on food systems transformation and local governance.
According to the 2022 GHI, Hunger is at alarming levels in 5 countries—Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Madagascar, and Yemen— and is provisionally considered *alarming *in 4 additional countries— Burundi, Somalia, South Sudan, and Syria. In a further 35 countries, hunger is considered serious, based on 2022 GHI scores and provisional designations.

Le 2 octobre 2022, les autorités nationales haïtiennes ont signalé les deux premiers cas confirmés de Vibrio cholerae O1 dans l'agglomération de Port-au-Prince. Dans la prison de Port-au-Prince, il y a une épidémie de choléra qui a identifié 271 cas suspects à ce jour, dont 12 cas confirmés et 14 décès.
Il convient de noter que cette épidémie survient dans un contexte de crise humanitaire et sécuritaire complexe à Port-au-Prince et dans les villes voisines, où l'accès aux services de santé et, par conséquent, la surveillance épidémiologique pourraient être affectés.

WASH - Nutrition strategic guidance note for West and Central Africa builds on the precedent WASH-in-NUT strategy elaborated in 2012 and is the regional outcome of a multiyear collaborative work conducted at country level between 2018 and 2022, in Mali, Niger, Nigeria Chad, Burkina Faso. This work is based on a strong multi-partner collaboration, involving national technical directorates of the water and sanitation sector as well as technical directorates of Health and Nutrition, civil society organizations, national and international NGOs as well as United Nations agencies.
This document can serve as a technical and strategic guide for any partner wishing to strengthen the intersectorality of WASH-Nutrition programmes. It presents the regional WASH & Nutrition context, a brief review of the latest scientific evidence, and proposes an integrated WASH-Nutrition programming framework adapted to the regional context of West and Central Africa. Beyond the implementation of programmes, this document also calls for the explicit and concrete inclusion of WASH-Nutrition integration into national policy documents.

Les représentants et représentantes ont déclaré que cette démarche, définie par des gouvernements, des organisations de la société civile et des organismes des Nations Unies lors d’une rencontre internationale sur le sida organisée à Chiang Mai en Thaïlande, sera également essentielle pour lutter contre d’autres pandémies et pour s’y préparer. Au cours de cette rencontre, la première définition internationale d’une riposte communautaire à une pandémie a été publiée. Elle est le fruit d’un processus de consultation de deux ans qui a réuni 11 gouvernements, représentant chaque région du monde, et 11 figures de la société civile. ette dégradation a entraîné un accroissement substantiel des déplacements internes et réduit l'accès déjà très limité aux services sociaux de base, y compris les services de santé, dans un contexte d'extrême pauvreté dans ces localités.
On estime un total de 2,2 millions de burkinabè qui sont dans un besoin humanitaire de plus en plus croissant dans tous les secteurs. Parmi ces populations vulnérables, on compte 1 902 150 déplacés internes à la date du 30 avril 2022 et plus de 1,2 millions étaient directement privées d’un accès aux soins de santé à cause principalement de la fermeture et ou du fonctionnement au minima des formations sanitaires dans les zones à défis sécuritaire. Au total, 290 communes sont concernées par le phénomène des PDIs dont la majorité se retrouvent à Djibo (285 654),
Kaya (123 610), Barsalogho (93 378), Gorgadji (43 651), Fada N’Gourma (85 574), Dori (66 798) et Gorom-Gorom (65 106).
La situation actuelle est rendue complexe par une annonce d’un niveau alarmant d'insécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle selon les analyses faites par le Cadre intégré de Classification (IPC) de la malnutrition aiguë de novembre 2021 (IPC AMN) et du cadre harmonisé (CH) de l’insécurité alimentaire de mars 2022. Tous ces facteurs concourent à la dégradation de la situation alimentaire et nutritionnelle des populations affectées surtout les couches les plus vulnérables que sont les femmes et les enfants. C’est ainsi que le Ministère de la santé en collaboration avec l’UNICEF et le PAM a entrepris de réaliser une nouvelle enquête SMART rapide après celles 2019 et de 2020 auprès de certain nombre de localités abritant un grand nombre de déplacés internes afin d’évaluer la situation nutritionnelle et sanitaire des enfants de 6 à 59 mois et des femmes enceintes et des femmes allaitantes ayant des enfants de moins de 2 ans. Cette enquête a couvert 12 communes et localités qui sont reparties par région et par district sanitaire de la manière suivante: Tougan, Nouna, Kaya, Kongoussi, Tougouri, Pissila, Gayéri, Thiou, Séguénéga, Gorom-Gorom,
