These policies yield large, immediate public health benefits while reducing the upward trajectory of greenhouse gas emissions. mitigation and adaptation, contributing to regulating the carbon cycle, but also moderating the micro-climate, filtering pollutants from the air and protecting settlements against the effects of extreme events such as droughts and flash floods.
