The key changes are:
inclusion of recent or updated WHO recommendations for tests to diagnose TB and detect drug resistance;
alignment with the latest WHO critical concentrations for phenotypic drug-susceptibility testing (DST) and the new definitions of pre-XDR-TB and XDR-TB;
updated information on building quality-assured TB testing and management capacity using the Stepwise Laboratory Quality Improvement Process Towards Accreditation (SLIPTA) approach (Score-TB package1);
updated information on assessing, analysing and optimising TB diagnostic networks; and
updated information on the use of next-generation sequencing (NGS) to detect mutations associated with drug resistance for surveillance purposes.

This Facility Based Unit is referred to as Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre or NRC in the document. While the scale and design may vary in a given situation, it is intended that the document provide the basis for a consistent set of principles that can be used by all states for facility based management of children with SAM. The Operational Guideline focuses on the Facility/Hospital based approach for the management of SAM children under 5 years of age based on the WHO and revised IAP protocols.

Elles seront axées sur la poursuite d’une stratégie DOTS de qualité, le renforcement des interventions communautaires et la prise en charge des grands défi s (TB/VIH, TBMR, TB de l’enfant et le contrôle de l’infection). Durant cette période, l’implication des prestataires du privé sera accentuée et des stratégies de communication porteuses d’impact seront menées.
L’atteinte des objectifs de ce plan stratégique nécessitera une importante mobilisation de ressources et un plaidoyer fort sera mené auprès de tous les partenaires du secteur santé et en dehors.
