L’Enquête sur la Prestation des services de Santé du Rwanda de 2007 (EPSR) décrit comment le secteur formel de la santé du Rwanda fournit les servicesde planification familiale, de santé maternelle et infantile, de paludisme, de VIH/sida et d’autres maladies transmissibles.

Plus de 2000 enfants meurent chaque jour des suites de traumatismes involontaires ou accidentels. Chaque année des dizaines de milliers d'autres sont hospitalisés pour des blessures qui les laissent souvent handicapés à vie.
Ce rapport conjoint de l'OMS et de l'UNICEF établit le premier b...ilan mondial des principales causes à l'origine des traumatismes involontaires touchant des enfants: les accidents de la route, les noyades, les brûlures, les chutes et les empoisonnements.

Dans cette perspective, nous espérons que notre expérience pratique dans ces domaines constituera un apport aux prochaines éditions de ce guide. Et si le renforcement des systèmes de santé peut ne pas être une science exacte et que l’approche universelle n’existe pas, cette publication dé...montre que la quantité de connaissances empiriques et les bonnes pratiques peuvent grandement contribuer à accélérer et à affiner les initiatives nationales du mieux possible afin d’adapter les besoins, les compétences et les circonstances.

Il s’inscrit dans la perspective de l’accélération de la mise en œuvre des différents programmes de prévention et d’offres de services de santé. Son objectif est de contribuer à l’atteinte des o...bjectifs du Document de Stratégie de Réduction de la Pauvreté et des Objectifs du Millénaire pour le Développement.
Le PNDS 2009-2018 est le document de référence pour l’ensemble des acteurs du secteur de la santé. Je les engage donc, ainsi que tous les partenaires à se l’approprier et à contribuer à sa mise en œuvre performante.

Selon la Conférence Internationale sur la Population et le Développement (CIPD, Caire, 94, paragraphe 7.2), « la santé de la reproduction ou santé génésique est un état de complet bien-être physique, mental et social et pas seulement l’absence de maladie ou d’inf...irmité, dans tous les domaines liés au système de reproduction, à ses fonctions et ses processus ». Lors de cette conférence, la communauté internationale a confirmé la relation étroite entre le développement, la santé de la reproduction et l’égalité des genres.
