The UNFPA Zambia 2017 Annual Report highlights key milestones and achievements recorded with UNFPA support towards improving the health and well-being of women and young people in Zambia.
The overall goal of the programme, to reduce the malaria morbidity and mortality by 75% (using 2012 as baseline) by the year 2020, continued to be pursued in 2014. The following areas were identified as some of the priorities for the year: Malaria Case Management under which we have Malaria in Pregn...ancy (MIP), Home Based Care and Diagnostics.

A recent survey of the literature and experience identified five broad actions that development institutions and governments, as well as their partners and stakeholders, can take to improve disability-inclusive disaster risk management. Those five actions are:
- Include persons with disabilitie...s as valued stakeholders in disaster risk management activities
- Help remove barriers to the full participation of persons with disabilities
- Increase awareness among governments and their partners of the safety and security needs of persons with disabilities
- Collect data that is disaggregated by disability
- Ensure that new construction, rehabilitation and reconstruction are accessible to persons with disabilities

This article describes experiences in implementing a community mental health and development project in a rural district in southern India, including the position of persons with mental illness when the project was initiated, the challenges faced and the strategies that were developed to overcome th...ese challenges. The authors conclude that when services are locally available, persons with mental illness can be treated and rehabilitated within their own community. They can live with dignity and their rights are respected. There is a great need for inclusion of persons with mental illness in the existing developmental activities and in disabled persons’ organisations.

В качестве социальных предикторов, определяющих рост частоты психических заболеваний, рассматривают процессы урбанизации, стрессогенные события и другие социал...ные тенденции современного мира. Отмечается их прямая связь с манифестацией психических расстройств, в том числе шизофренией. Наиболее подвержены психическим расстройствам лица, находящиеся в неблагоприятной жизненной ситуации или малоимущие. По тяжести социальных последствий и по нарушению адаптации шизофрения продолжает лидировать в психиатрии. Течение шизофрении является одним из основных клинических предикторов медицинского и социального прогноза. Проведенное исследование устанавливает, что клинические предикторы, определяющие тяжесть состояния больных с незлокачественным течением шизофрении, не являются облигатными в социализации данной категории больных.
