This presentation presents the issues we confront in deciding how to communicate to the public that COVID-19 vaccine recommendations reflect the state of scientific knowledge.
Globally, the cancer burden is rising, exerting significant strain on
populations and health systems at all levels of income. There are
concerted efforts towards enhancing access to comprehensive
cancer prevention and control initiatives.
Globally, approximately 56.8 million people are in need of palliative care
services; 78% of them living in low and middle-income country yet only
about 12% have their needs being met causing great suffering for many.
Glaucoma, a disease that gradually affects the optic nerve, is the second leading cause of vision loss globally, and it continues to pose a challenge to the eye health professionals.
The marathon to eradicate polio is on its final lap: the world is more than 99% of the way to success. After millennia of living with poliovirus and suffering the paralysis it causes, today nearly all the world’s people live in polio-free countries; two of the three strains of wild poliovirus (WPV...) have been eradicated. Some 20 million people are walking who would have been paralysed had it not been for the efforts of national governments and health workers. If eradicating polio has been a marathon, the finishing line is in sight.

In 2018, we are celebrating 20 years of progress in eliminating trachoma, the world’s leading infectious cause of blindness. Set up in 1998 by Pfizer Inc. and the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, the International Trachoma Initiative (ITI) supports Ministries of Health in over 30 countries around ...the world by making Zithromax® available for use in public health campaigns to eliminate trachoma. The 20th anniversary of our founding gives us an opportunity to reflect on the distance we’ve traveled in fighting this disease, and raise the ambition for accelerating to a world where diseases like trachoma are a distant memory. We have not traveled alone these past 20 years – a broad coalition of actors including NGOs, the World Health Organization (WHO), Ministries of Health, health workers, and community members have made these incredible achievements possible. Our 20th anniversary gives us an opportunity to celebrate this coalition of partners, colleagues, and friends

Malawi is a landlocked country with a surface area of 118,484 km2. Administratively, the country is divided into three regions, namely the Northern, Central and Southern regions. The country has 28 districts, which are further divided into traditional authorities (TA) ruled by chiefs. The TAs are su...b-divided into villages, which form the smallest administrative units. The Village Development Committees (VDCs) under the TAs are responsible for development activities. Politically, each district is divided into constituencies that are represented by Members of Parliament (MPs) in the National Assembly for purposes of legislations. Constituencies are further divided into wards which are represented by a ward councillor at district assembly.
