trastornos mentales y neurológicos, así como con el consumo de sustancias. En los países de renta baja y media, más del 75% de las personas con trastornos mentales no reciben ningún tratamiento. En 2020, como resultado de la pandemia mundial, el 93% de los países comunicaron que sus servicios de salud mental se habían detenido o interrumpido (OMS, 2020e). La OMS ha denunciado un incremento del 25% solo en las tasas de depresión y ansiedad durante la pandemia. La Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económicos estima que el coste de la depresión y la ansiedad para la economía mundial asciende a 1 billón de dólares estadounidenses al año. Todas las enfermeras tienen una función de prestación de cuidados en materia de salud mental y consumo de sustancias. El CIE aboga firmemente por inversiones en más formación y desarrollo profesional en esta área con el fin de ayudar a las personas y comunidades a lograr el mayor nivel posible de salud, en particular bienestar físico, mental y social.

Esta serie recoge una serie de orientaciones y normas basadas en la evidencia que garantizan la calidad de dicha atención. Las normas son el resultado de la discusión y la revisión de distintos profesionales de América Latina y el Caribe. El módulo 1 se centra en la evaluación psicosocial como estrategia de apoyo a los objetivos de la Iniciativa Mundial contra el Cáncer Infantil y como herramienta para que los profesionales de la salud recaben la información necesaria para ofrecer a estos pacientes un abordaje integral enfocado en el bienestar, la adaptación al proceso de enfermedad y la adherencia al tratamiento.

At least 20 plant species belonging to 16 families were reportedly used by the participants. Asteraceae was the most common plant family reportedly used by the participants. Allium sativum and Dicoma anomala, reportedly used by 21.0% and 14.3% respectively, were the most commonly used medicinal herbs in this population. In addition, boosting the immune system and treating gastrointestinal ailments, apparently cited by 32% and 28% participants respectively, were the most commonly reported reasons for using medicinal herbs.
