Snakebites are well-known medical emergencies in many parts of the world, especially in rural areas. Agricultural workers and children are the most affected. The incidence of snakebite mortality is particularly high in South-East Asia. Rational use of snake anti-venom can substantially reduce mortal...ity and morbidity due to snakebites. These guidelines are a revised and updated version of Regional Guidelines for the Management of snakebites published by the WHO Regional Office in South-East Asia in 2011. This guide is designed to assist UNICEF staff and partners, in establishing and
operating Child Friendly Spaces (CFS) in an emergency. It attempts to provide
readers with the main principles of a CFS and the processes on how to establish
one.
The overall aim is to improve the standards and capac...ity of field staff, by providing
the required knowledge to support the design and operations of child friendly
spaces.
It will facilitate an understanding of how to develop a CFS in contexts in which
children’s well-being are threatened or damaged as a result of conflict or natural

In this paper an attempt has been made to contextualize the ecological dimension of contemporary Catholic
social teaching. With this aim in mind, the authors discuss the merits of several theories and approaches
(political economy approaches, ecological moderni...zation theory, environmental justice theory, and social
constructionism) coming from environmental sociology and other disciplinary traditions in the social sciences.
After an analysis of relevant historical documents of Catholic social teaching with respect to the
environmental issues covered by them, the authors discuss the main lines of argument present in the recent
(2015) encyclical Laudato Si’ (Pope Francis) and interpret them in the aforementioned theoretical framework.
In conclusion, the usefulness of Catholic social teaching for the public dialogue between science and
other relevant stakeholders, as well as its main strengths and weaknesses have been discussed
